Merry Christmas!... Let's rejoice! IT'S CHRISTMAS. The Savior has been born to us. The only Savior. It's the great news: God has put his tent among us. May Christmas not prevent us from discovering the deep meaning of Christmas; that advertising claims do not cloud the message of the Gospel, that consumerism does not temper hope or stifle charity. We celebrate the mystery of the incarnation of the Son of God; we celebrate the unusual fact that God has clothed himself with our same face, so that we may participate in his own divine life. God is with us and among us. Let us make our own the words and sentiments of S. Leo the Great: Let us rejoice. There can be no place for sadness, when life has just been born... Rejoice the saint, since victory is near; rejoice the sinner, since he is invited to pardon. May the Eucharistic celebration lead us to open our eyes, to value our dignity as children of God, to discover God in each person, to never worship any false god: money, unsupportive selfishness, pride... So if we can say: Merry Christmas! in this new style of living: that of children of God.
