Often, we feel that our faith is weak, unable to overcome all our doubts or give us the confidence to face our trials. Jesus' closest friends, his apostles, may have felt the same way, as today we hear them ask him to increase their faith. Jesus responds by issuing them a challenge, telling them that even a small amount of faith has the power to do great things. Let us accept that challenge today, recognizing that our faith, however uncertain, has brought us here in the first place to worship the Lord and celebrate the Eucharist. Habakkuk, living in a time of strife and violence in his nation, cries out to God: "I cry for help, but you do not listen!" How many of us have felt the same way? God appeals to Habakkuk to have faith, assuring him that faith gives hope and life to the just one. Paul tells Timothy that faith and love can be found in Christ Jesus. In the Gospel, Jesus tells his disciples how even a little faith can enable them to work wonders. May God's Word strengthen our faith and give us the courage to trust in the Lord.
