Seeing you this morning to celebrate Mass was fantastic. Respecting the social distance, with masks and deep love for Jesus, we gather as a faith community to thank our Lord. We thank God for your presence and love for Saint Mary's. The Eucharist was shared with devotion presided by Fr. Jimmy SDB, and concelebrated by Fr. Steven SDB and Fr. Rafael SDB. Each year, we gather to express gratitude for the blessings received, and this 2020 was not the exception beyond the pandemic. We are a Thanksgiving community! Besides our daily Mass celebration, we always share something as a family, our fellow parishioners' support and lovely presence. The Salesians, the candidates, and the volunteers strengthen the sense of family. Yes, we are Salesians. In our Parish, we are blessed to share the mission of Don Bosco. This year, the spirit of Thanksgiving was not only in the food. We love our people, each parishioner, student, youth, parent, volunteer, religious, and neighbors in touch with us. Yes, our Thanksgiving Mass was special. As we prayed and received the Holy Communion, we felt joy. We were connected with other brothers and sisters in a time of great suffering. We acknowledged that in moments of profound sorrow and grief as we live in our Nation, the love of God, manifested in the Eucharist, renews our affection for all, and in the end, we will triumph over every challenge. We know that God does not desire for us to suffer. Knowing that God will always keep his promises, we remain overwhelmed with a deep sense of deep gratitude that God will bring us renewal and new life. Thank you for coming this day to Mass with us. The warmth of the assistance, the sense of welcome helped us to understand that we are not alone. At Saint Mary's, we feel at home. This COVID-19 has enabled us in a new way to feel God's love, and now like the stresses of wars and the Depression, we have changed. We are grateful for life, job, studies, and Parish, and in this spirit of remembrance and gratitude, we embrace all of you, wishing you a very healthy, blessed, and happy Thanksgiving.
When we started the celebration of Saint Jude Thaddeus in 2018, after the procession and Sunday Mass, we did not know the blessings we received through this devotion. Since then, every month on the 28th, we celebrate Mass honoring Saint Jude with music, food and Joy. As our parishioners call him, we come to honor San Juditas every month here at Saint Mary's. This year, we could not have his monthly commemoration during the beginning of the pandemic. However, since April we started this love and devotion from parishioners and friends. Before the feast, people came offering donations for flowers, music, and food. We were concern about the security measures and the quantity of people. Saint Jude helped us to celebrate with joy, hope, and confidence this year. Seeing your devotion, the number of faithful fellow parishioners and friend here, we have just acknowledged how his presence in our parish strengthens the best of our lives. We face problems and afflictions, but besides that, seeing him, we are touched by the happiness of those who are in God's presence. We want to reflect the face of Jesus as Saint Jude does; our real joy it is not only the devotions and all the celebrations that we have at Saint Mary's it is living faithfully and with joy. I do not believe seeing you and living the devotion of St. Jude that Christian life is called to fulfill norms that annoy and make others unhappy. No, yesterday we are touched by your participation of the Eucharist the sense of the feast with live music. Seeing everyone smiling and having a good time while respecting safe distancing. You were amazing and I appreciate everyone for your presence love and devotion to Jesus celebrating San Juditas. See you at the Virgen de Guadalupe month beginning on November 12th. Thank you.
