Today, we receive the news that the parish website joins the web of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. We are beginning a new time to grow in the ecclesial vision, feeling close to many faithful who share our love for the Lord Jesus. I appreciate the effort started by a young friend from the parish, opening the channels of social networks introduced us on this path of evangelization. What we live is a new model of cooperation, of independence, feeling part of a gift that belongs to all of us, and that gift is the good news that we share. The coronavirus (COVID-19) has revealed how fragile all human beings are. The message of life in Easter finds new ways of solidarity, fraternity, and care caused by the pandemic, the need to seek the good of all humanity because we have all been affected by COVID-19. Jesus showed us a Father of all. We are a family. All humankind is a family embraced by his love. It is up to us to know how to respond to this call. On May 6, we Salesians remember Dominic Savio, a young man who knew how to make joy a way of holiness. At Saint Mary's, we want to extend joy for so many good reasons, we have to be better Christians. Holiness is joy, and for us, the joy of the Gospel is what drives the promotion of this page to which we give you the warmest welcome. Care belongs to all of us. Who cares loves, who loves cares. Let's take care of each other, particularly in these moments when the light of solutions from science and the medical field to the pandemic begins to shine. Easter keeps alive the flame of the candle that began to illuminate the darkness of the night by proclaiming that Christ is alive. By contacting the Archdiocese on this page, we want to renew our desire to feel like family, loved, and sheltered by a Father who watches over the good of those he loves. We thank those who have made it possible for the page of the parish to acquire more horizons of evangelization. ¡FELICES PASCUAS! Debido a la pandemia que ha afectado a una gran parte de la población mundial, este año celebramos la Pascua en circunstancias inusuales, ya que nos encontramos confinados en nuestros hogares. Esta pandemia ha tocado nuestras vidas de tal manera que somos tan conscientes de la fragilidad humana. Personas de diferentes edades, todos los grupos étnicos, ricos y pobres han sido afectados. Confiando en Dios seguimos en oración, agradecidos por el esfuerzo de aquellos profesionales de la salud, sacerdotes, trabajadores sociales, políticos y muchas personas que se han unido para aliviar el sufrimiento, alimentar al hambriento, fortalecerse mutuamente y cambiar las circunstancias dando esperanza. En medio de esta pandemia, celebramos la Pascua, que festeja la vida. Aquí, en California, hemos sido bendecidos con lluvia, en un territorio que generalmente es cálido y árido. Después de cada lluvia, vemos el cambio; todo se levanta y se vuelve verde como lo contemplamos en la incertidumbre del coronavirus: hay vida en nuestro alrededor. Es Pascua. Los judíos, esclavizados en Egipto, con fe experimentaron un éxodo saliendo de la servidumbre a la libertad, buscando "una tierra que mana leche y miel" (Ex 3, 8) . La Pessach judía (Pascua) celebra la liberación de todo un pueblo, no solo de individuos. La fe de Jesús en un Dios Padre bueno y misericordioso era tan diferente de la imagen en el Dios castigador que imponía normas y leyes severas. Esta mentalidad estaba en la mente religiosa de su tiempo, su prédica era un hecho inaceptable. Fue esta dureza e insensibilidad lo que lo llevó a la muerte. Jesús mostró un Dios de amor y misericordia. La Pascua cristiana celebra la resurrección de quien fue torturado en la cruz. Jesús dió un mensaje profundo en su Pascua, que no quedó en el recuerdo del éxodo. En la cruz, dejó la oscuridad de la muerte abriéndose a la vida. No volvió a la vida que tenía antes, sino que comenzó otro tipo de vida libre de la muerte. Esta Pascua lo seguimos, aceptando y transformando estos momentos de preocupación por la crisis de la pandemia,sabemos que somos capaces de salir de esta crisis hacia una vida nueva, creando una realidad más humana y más digna, que respete la creación de Dios, donde todos disfrutamos del amor y de la misericordia del Padre. ¡Aleluya! ¡Cristo ha resucitado! ¡Felices Pascuas! Un agradecimiento especial al Padre Roberto, quien ha trabajado diligentemente estos días en Internet, Facebook y WhatsApp para evangelizar, llevando la celebración de la Eucaristía y la vida en Jesús a muchos hermanos y hermanas. Due to the pandemic that has affected a greater part of the world population we are celebrating Easter under unusual circumstances as we find ourselves confined to our homes. This pandemic has touched our lives in such a way that we are so aware of the fragility of our lives. All ages, all ethnic groups, the rich and the poor have all been affected. As people of God united in prayer, we are grateful for the effort of health professionals, priests, social workers, politicians, and all people who have joined together to alleviate the suffering, feed the hungry, strengthen each other, and change the circumstances of this situation by giving hope. In the midst of this pandemic, we celebrate Easter, which is the festival of life. Here, in California, we have been blessed with rain, in a territory that is usually warm and arid. After each rainfall, we see the change; everything rises and turns green. The Jews, enslaved in Egypt, filled with faith lived the experience of an exodus journey from servitude to freedom in the direction of "a good and spacious land, a land flowing with milk and honey" (symbols of justice and peace: Ex 3.8). The Jewish Pessach (Passover) celebrates the liberation of an entire people, not just individuals. The faith of Jesus in a good and merciful God-Father, so different from the punishing God with severe norms and laws, that the religious mind of his time had, was an unacceptable fact.  It was this harshness and insensitivity that led him to death. Jesus was showing us access to the God of love and mercy. The Christian Easter celebrates the resurrection of the one who was tortured on the cross. Jesus made the new Passover, beyond the exodus of the Jewish people. On the cross, he left death opening up to life. He did not return to the life he had before, but rather, he began another type of life free from death. We will follow him, and in these moments of concern about the crisis of the pandemic, we believe that we are capable of emerging from this crisis towards a new, more humane, more dignified life that respects God's creation where we all enjoy love and the Father's mercy.
