Unas semanas antes de iniciar un nuevo camino dejando la parroquia, quisiera agradecer a Dios por la oportunidad que tuve de conocerlos. Estos tres años han sido como un nuevo Evangelio de amor, de trabajo, afrontado desafíos e intenando tomar decisiones en favor de todos, siempre guiados por la mano de María Auxiliadora. A lo largo de mi estancia, sentí cómo diario recibíamos rayos de amor y optimismo que nos ayudaron a llegar a más personas, especialmente a los jóvenes. El momento desafiante llegó después de la despedida del P. Avelino Lorenzo cuando tuvimos que cerrar actividades por la pandemia. En ese tiempo, gracias al P. Roberto y su equipo, volvimos a estar en contacto con ustedes, repensando la forma de llevar el amor de Jesús a sus corazones. Desde Julio 2020, recomenzamos con mayor energía y amor el servicio a la comunidad celebrando la Eucaristía, con Adoraciones al Santísimo, celebrando fiestas bajo los protocolos establecidos, y especialmente, manteniendo la pastoral juvenil. Fuimos bendecidos por el Señor ya que pudimos agregar nuevas personas que siempre pensaron en el bien de los jóvenes. El buen Dios nos abrió las puertas en la televisión católica a través de conciertos y momentos de oración para adolescentes, jóvenes y adultos. La fiesta reciente de Pentecostés confirmó la presencia del amor de Dios en la Parroquia. El pasado lunes 24 de mayo, día de María Auxiliadora, vimos su amor por algunas de las calles del vecindario, con el apoyo de la policía local, con el entusiasmo y la devoción de los feligreses, padres de familia, estudiantes, maestros, jóvenes y adultos, unidos por un solo corazón llenos gratitud, por la presencia amorosa y la constante ayuda de la Virgen, especialmente a lo largo de la pandemia. Tenemos a la puerta dos eventos que marcarán la vida de Santa María hacia un camino pastoral nuevo. Primero, será el domingo 30 de mayo de 2021, cuando el provincial de los Salesianos de Oeste de los Estados Unidos, presentará al P. Marco Cesar Rivero como nuevo párroco. El segundo será el 13 de Junio, cuando el obispo regional, David O'Connell confiará la parroquia de Santa Isabel a los Salesianos en East LA en la persona del P. Marco. Ahora vivimos el inicio de un tiempo nuevo que ayudará a extender el amor de Don Bosco y de Jesús por los jóvenes más allá de los límites de Santa María. Guiado por el P. Marco y dos salesianos más, trabajando en equipo, con jóvenes voluntarios en el Centro Juvenil Salesiano, el Colegio Salesiano y la Parroquia Salesiana Santa Brígida, comienza a surgir un nuevo horizonte, cubriéndonos con el amor de la Madre del cielo. La nueva estatua de María Auxiliadora permanecerá en la escuela parroquial. La Escuela de Santa María cuidada por las Hijas de María Auxiliadora, las Hermanas Salesianas, velarán por la educación de los niños bajo la mirada de la Virgen, ¡eso es bello! Doy las gracias a Dios por todas las bendiciones que tuvo estos años de trabajo en Santa María.

A few weeks before my departure, I am grateful to God for the opportunity I had to know all of you. These three years have been like a new Gospel of love, work, challenge, decision, and discernment, where we walked by the guidance of our Mother, Mary Help of Christians, receiving day by day the light of optimism to reach more people, especially young people. The challenging time came after the farewell of Fr. Avelino Lorenzo when we had the shutdown due to the pandemic. In that time, thanks to Fr. Roberto and his team, we got in touch with you again, rethinking the way to bring the love of Jesus to your hearts and homes. Since July 2020, we were more active serving our community with constancy, celebrating the Eucharist, Adorations, feasts, and keeping the youth ministry, adding new people who always taught on our youth. The good Lord opened for us the gates in the Catholic Network TV. We have had concerts and moments of prayers for teens and young people. Pentecost confirmed the strength and decision to do well in our parish. This past Monday 24, we celebrated the feast of our Lady Mary Help of Christians. We saw her love on the streets, with the support of the local police, and the enthusiasm and devotion of parishioners, parents, students, teachers, youth and adults, all united by one heart with gratitude for the motherly presence of the blessed Mother, especially, during the pandemic. We will have two new moments, which will seal Saint Mary's life, on Sunday, May 30, 2021, the provincial of the Salesians, will introduce Fr. Marco Cesar Rivero as a new pastor, and on June 13, 2021, Bishop David O'Connell will entrust a new parish, Santa Isabel parish, to the work of the Salesians in East LA. Now it is the beginning of the excellent time to extend the love of Jesus like Don Bosco beyond the boundaries of Saint Mary's. Guided by Fr. Marco and two more Salesians, working as a team, along with young volunteers of the Salesian Youth Center, Salesian High School, and Salesian St. Bridget Parish, a new horizon appears, covering us with the love of the Blessed Mother. The new statue of Mary Help of Christians will remain in our school. Saint Mary's School will be under her protection and the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, the Salesians Sisters, will guard it with love on behalf the parish, students, parents and teachers of the school. My last words “Thank you” to God for all the blessings that he has given me these years amongst all of you.
